Description
The Camp White Young Marines is located in Southern Oregon in the heart of the beautiful
Rogue Valley, midway between Portland, Oregon (273 miles north) and San Francisco, California, 374 miles to the south.
The facility opened its doors to veterans in 1949 and is the former hospital of Camp White built during World War II. The
facility is currently known as the Southern Oregon Rehabilitation Center & Clinics (formerly the VA Domiciliary). Our
Young Marine unit headquarters are located in building 243 (upstairs). Camp White Young Marines was named after Camp White
in appreciation for the generosity in providing space and facilities for our unit.
Who we are
The Young Marines is a youth education and service program for boys and girls,
ages 8 through completion of high school. The Young Marines promotes the mental, moral, and physical development of its members.
The program focuses on character building, leadership, and promotes a healthy, drug-free lifestyle. The Young Marines is the
focal point for the U.S. Marine Corps' Youth Drug Demand Reduction efforts.
The Mission of the Young Marines is to positively impact America's future by providing
quality youth development for boys and girls that nurtures and develops its members into responsible citizens who enjoy and
promote a healthy, drug-free lifestyle.
Membership
Membership begins
after attending a brief parent orientation, followed by our application process. Each recruit will participate
in a 12 week (usually consisting of Saturdays only) boot camp process which will challenge them both mentally and physically.
At the end of the boot camp process they will feel a sense of pride and confidence at their accomplishment and will feel proud
to call themselves Young Marines.
Our Volunteers
Young
Marine units are community-based programs by dedicated adult volunteers. Many of these volunteers are former, retired, active
duty, or reserve Marines who believe passionately that the values they learned as Marines had a positive effect on them. It
is through these caring adults that Young Marines learn the inner values of Honor, Courage and Commitment. Adult
volunteers are individually screened by the National Headquearters based on background information and recommendations provided

Funding
All
funding is generated through fundraising events, sponsors, donations and contributions. All monies, donations and contributions
go directly to benefit our Young Marines. Without the help of the community and
volunteer staff, the program simply would not survive. All donations are tax deductible. Ask how you can help.
